Setting sail: learn to sail in sheltered bays
The shallow waters and sheltered bays around several of the Greek islands
make these ideal places to learn to sail or windsurf, while more experienced
sailers and surfers will enjoy the breezes that buffet the islands of the
Aegean and the Mediterranean.
The easiest option for beginners is to book a holiday with a UK tour
operator that offers sailing and surfing options.
As well as flights and accommodation, they include all tuition and
equipment.
Sunvil also organises live-aboard sailing holidays on the island of Lefkas,
which cost from £220 for a week, including tuition.
Operators like Sunsail and Mark Warner provide a range of other activities
at their holiday clubs, making them ideal for families and groups travelling
with some members who don’t want to sail or surf.
Sunsail has five beach clubs in Greece all offering a range of water sports.
Clients can spend a second week on a flotilla, or take a bareboat charter.
Prices start at £305 for a week or £435 for two weeks in May, based on four
sharing.
