Suncars takes on new accounts in bid to boost business

SUNCARS has taken on three new accounts as part of the campaign by new managing director Kyle Haughton to double the size of its business within the next two years.

Haughton took up his new position at Suncars yesterday. He was previously First Choice Holidays and Flights product director.

The new accounts are with Teletext and Internet operator Airborne Direct, a European flight specialist; Cruise Specialists, which sells mainly cruise and stay holidays in Florida; and Canaries specialist Corona Holidays.

Commercial manager Colin Williams said the company now has a more focused approach to increasing sales. “We have a sales team out on the road, which we did not have before, and that has undoubtedly helped us,” he said.

First Choice started using its in-house car-rental broker last May and has been followed by other group businesses, including Travel Choice, Bakers Dolphin and Holiday Hypermarkets.

Meanwhile, Suncars is offering a selection of added extras at various destinations in its new rental programme.

The offers vary between countries but include free delivery and collection, free additional driver and free one-way rentals. The company has also rebranded its USA Gold and Canada Platinum products under the Select name, ahead of rolling them out across more countries.

For an extra £2 a day Select clients visiting the US can add up to three extra named drivers and return the car without a full tank of petrol. In Canada, Select costs an extra £20 a week and allows one additional named driver and a free tank of petrol.

A launch pack has gone out to agents highlighting what is new, with a prize quiz offering a holiday to Orlando for retailers who correctly answer three questions based on brochure information.
