Manchester Airport is waiting for approval from the Office of Fair Trading for its proposed £241 million purchase of East Midlands and Bournemouth Airports from National Express. Manchester Airport claimed it would continue the capital investment plans for both airports, increasing their passenger capacity.
* newcastle offers new scheduled services
Newcastle Airport has a number of new scheduled services for the summer season which started last week, including daily flights to Dusseldorfoperated by LufthansaCityLine and services to Dublin and Cork operated by British Airways’subsidiary BrymonAirways. In addition, Gill Airways has doubled its frequency on theNewcastle-Aberdeen route to four flights a day in each direction, Monday toFriday.

Leeds/Bradford Airportmanaging director EdAnderson has taken over as chairman of the Airport Operators Association. The AOA is the national association that represents the interests of all airports in the UK. Its chairman serves for one year. The new vice-chairman is Heathrow managingdirector Roger Cato. He will take the chairman’s role next year.
