High-tech conferencing leads Sheraton charge

THE Great Wall Sheraton hotel in Beijing has renovated seven function rooms to cater for its corporate clients.

The hotel has installed state-of-the-art technical systems in the rooms, which include an electrical screen in each, simultaneous interpretation systems, Internet conference facilities, projective televisions, closed-circuit televisions, background music, KTV and karaoke systems. The revamped Rose, Lily, Orchid, Violet, Peony and Lotus rooms – at a cost of US $350,000 – aim to meet the increasing demands of business travellers and clients.

The hotel’s clientele is 60% corporate and 40% leisure.

The work follows last year’s major renovation of the hotel lobby and Silk Road Trattoria. The 1,007-room hotel, part of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide group, has also just launched its own website, www.sheratonbeijing.com.

Until now ,guests have been using a worldwide website for information and reservations, because there was not one just for the Beijing property.

The new website offers information in English or Chinese on hotel rooms and suites, meeting facilities and local attractions, the airport, a map, special promotions and an on-line booking facility.
