* gore to speak at closing lunch
Former US vice-president and presidential candidate Al Gore will be the guest speaker at the closing lunch of Pow Wow on May 9. During his address, Gore will speak about the US political scene in Florida, where this year’s controversial presidential campaign was decided.
* amex cheques up for grabs in prize draw
American Express is donating $10,000 worth of travellers’ cheques as prizes in a draw being held in the Marketplace Hall on May 9 at 4pm. Only representatives of international tour operators, who can pick up a ticket for the draw during lunch on Wednesday, can enter.
* tia confirms venues for next six pow wows
The Travel Industry Association of America has confirmed the venues for the next six annual Pow Wow marketplaces. Host cities are New Orleans in 2002, St Louis 2003, Los Angeles 2004, Houston 2005, Orlando again in 2006 and Anaheim, California, in 2007.
* free delegate gift from shopping outlet
New shopping attraction Orlando Premium Outlets is offering all Pow Wow delegates a free gift on presentation of their badge at the customer service desk in the complex’s food court. The 110-store centre is one mile from Walt Disney World Resort, directly off Interstate 4.
