Peter Long group chief executive,
First Choice
Peter Long has always had a head for numbers – so it’s no surprise that he’s the darling of the City.
Long, chief executive of First Choice, is the man credited with turning around the fortunes of the group.
Many people who have worked with him regard him as their mentor.
Prior to joining First Choice in October 1996, Long was chief executive of Iberotravel, the UK-based travel company which operated under three main brand names: Sunworld, Neilson and Skybargains.
He set up Sunworld in March 1991, and took the company to fifth place in the UK tour operator league table, carrying over 700,000 passengers in 1994. Sunworld was later sold to the Thomas Cook group in June 1996.
Previously he has held the position of chief executive of ILG Travel.
Long’s hobbies are sailing, windsurfing and skiing. His free time is spent with his three sons, who are all sports enthusiasts.
