Cosmos taps market for Miami breaks

Cosmos is to start testing the potential market from April for three and four-night breaks to Miami’s South Beach district.

It is featuring twinshare prices from £401 for three days in November staying at the Holiday Inn, including scheduled flights with British Airways.

Short-stay packages at the smaller Blue Moon hotel in the Art Deco area range from £464 for three nights in November to £899 for four nights in December.

Early summer rates are around £644 for the shorter duration. For those willing to travel further afield for a short break, the operator has included the Miami packages as part of a new Quickies product brand that also features shorter-haul destinations.

The new options have been added to Cosmos’ new Florida brochure valid from March to April 2001.

Cosmos product director Danny Talbot said: “We believe that there is a vast potential market for people wanting to take a short break to a resort hotel rather than to a city, which forms the basis of most short-break operators’ programmes.”

He added: “In addition to targeting those people celebrating a special occasion like wedding anniversaries, hen or stag weekends, who tend to book early, we aim to cater for those who decide at short notice to get away for some sun and relaxation.”
