Top men head for the Hall of Fame
THE British Travel Industry Hall of Fame was formed in 1995 to honour outstanding achievement and excellence by the trade’s leading ambassadors.
The event is organised by Kingley Event management and supported by Air Miles, Avis Rent A car, BUPATravel Services, in association with Travel Weekly.
It will take place at The Savoy, The Strand, London, on May 20.
This year’s inductees are Mike Gooley, chairman of independent travel company Trailfinders; aviation pioneer Sir Freddie Laker; Peter Long, First Choice group chief executive; and Gabriel Escarrer, Sol Melia chairman.
The new members of the Hall of Fame were chosen by their travel industry peers. The voting panel includes representatives of the sponsors and trade associations.
Members include Guild of Business Travel Agents chairman Don Lunn, ABTA president Stephen Bath, Federation of Tour Operators chairman Martin Brackenbury and British Hospitality Association president Ramon Pajares.
