Advantage is ready and able to make decisions
I have to take issue with Ron Muir’s comments (Travel Weekly April 23).
I have worked alongside Ron for years and have always admired his vision. However, I do not accept his statement “member directors, who own their own businesses, find it difficult to make objective and impartial decisions”.
I have been working on the Advantage board for six years and was elected vice-president last year. I always adhere to Advantage’s core objective of ‘increasing members’ profitability’.
You cannot achieve this for the membership without looking forward, something Advantage does. Not every idea is right and many innovative ideas need serious thinking through.
The board consists of members who are run their own businesses successfully. It is important these hands-on people assist the executive directors with ideas that will work for the membership as a whole. The executive directors steer the organisation, while the management works tirelessly to feed the membership with its full support.
We are set up to make fast decisions when and where necessary. Surely this is a successful route for any large organisation?
