ABTA sets 3% increase on subscription fees from July

ABTA subscriptions will increase by 3% from July 1 – the first rise since 1997.

The decision was made at an extraordinary general meeting at Newman Street last week.

The industry’s largest tour operators will see the cap on their subscriptions rise from the current level of £46,000 a year to £55,000.

This is aimed at accounting for consolidation that has effectively reduced ABTA’s income.

Two other resolutions also alter ABTA’s payment rules. Late payers will now be forced to pay subscriptions by direct debit, while members fined under its code of conduct will have to settle any fine before an appeal will be heard. If the appeal is won, the fine will be returned with interest added.
