TRAVELCARE has slashed its holiday insurance by more
than a third – substantially undercutting its high street rivals.
The independent travel agency is offering a £20
insurance policy for a seven night holiday and £25 for a 14 night holiday, a
saving of at least £12 compared to its competitors. travelcare’s previous 14
night policy cost £38.95.
The policy, which offers medical cover of £10,000,000,
remains the same whether it is offered free during promotions or sold directly
for long or short haul trips.
“We have looked at the whole area of travel
insurance for some time when others have decided to introduce a two-tier policy
we have taken a stand not to,” said Amanda Williams, head of sales for
Travelcare.
“Other travel chains offer free insurance but once
potential customers are in the shop they find they have to pay more to upgrade
the policy.”
The move comes as ABTA urges agents not to join the
General Insurance Standards Council until it has clarified its insurance
regulation rules.
