Bass chairman heads industry council

BASS chairman Sir Ian Prosser has become chairman of the
World Travel and Tourism Council, replacing Harvey Golub.

Sir Ian will oversee the implementation of a new strategy
and structure for the WTTC, a global business leaders’ forum for the travel and
tourism industry.

Harvey Golub, chairman and chief executive officer of
American Express served as the council’s chairman from 1996 to 2001.

The WTTC’s main focus is to work with international
governments to develop economic opportunities for the industry.
