Greek Travel Agents in UK marketing drive

Report by Lydia Wilson

THE ASSOCIATION of Greek Travel Agents is aiming to change
the young and hip clubbers’ image of Cypriot resort Ayia Napa with a UK public
relations drive.

AGTA’s tour operator and travel agent members believe recent
images of Ayia Napa as a European clubbing capital need to be balanced with more
information about the area’s family resorts, good beaches and quality hotels.

An AGTA spokesman explained: “Ayia Napa needs to retain its
family appeal. It cannot survive as a clubbers resort and its is the aim of all
AGTA members to ensure that Ayia Napa finds a balance in order to maintain
sustainable tourism.”

AGTA has appointed a public relations company to kick off
its plans.
