BRITISH Airways has launched a new fares structure on
European and domestic routes in a bid to challenge low-cost rivals–on the same
day it sold Go.
Called New World Offers to Europe, each of the airline’s 80
domestic routes and European routes have been divided into one of five return
fare groupings of £80, £100, £120, £140 and £160. The prices apply to off-peak
travel.
The restructure applies to all BA franchise and subsidiary
carriers. Examples include Paris, Nantes of Amsterdam for £80 and Athens or
Seville for £140. Add-ons, such as Belfast or Edinburgh to London, will cost
£65.
The new fares came as BA sold low-cost carrier Go to venture
capitalists 3i in a £110 million deal. Barbara Cassani remains chief executive.
