OPERATORS were banking on a bumper weekend following yet
another slow week of sales.
Dismal weather led to increased demand for holidays during
the early part of the week, but bookings remained at disappointing levels.
JMC sales and operations director Denis Wormwell said: “The
rain has helped but we would have expected the market to be better. If things
do not pick up it will be a real nail-biter.”
Lunn Poly managing director John McEwan said July holiday
prices were below last year but higher than last August.
Another multiple said: “For retailers, the market is alright
but operators had anticipated better selling prices.”
