Heal admits members poor at selling JMC

WORLDCHOICE chairman Colin Heal has admitted some of his members are
“exceptionally poor” at selling the holidays of its commercial
partner JMC.

His frank comments come as the consortium and operator prepare for talks
to stem falling sales and repair the strained relationship.

JMC has threatened to reduce base commission to Worldchoice agents
from13% to 12% unless business picks up (TravelWeekly July 23).

Heal said: “It’s extremely difficult to pinpoint why we are going
through this period.

“It’s clear that some members are exceptionally good at selling
JMC, but others are exceptionally poor.
We need to find out why this is the case.”

Agents warned Worldchoice management not to put pressure on members to
drive up sales of JMC.

Worldchoice’s
largest member Let’s Go Travel said staff would resist any attempts to
directionally sell.
