Swan Hellenic claims a series of joint marketing and advertising initiatives with travel agents has prompted a 30%year-on-year rise in bookings in January 2000. Sales director Carolanne Dieleman said: “The brochure was brought out at the same time in October but in general, the market is doing better this year.”

Red Funnel has appointed Nigel Cureton as general manager of the Southampton to Cowes Isle of Wight ferry. Cureton comes to Red Funnel from Stena Line where he acted as route director on the Republic of Ireland services. He replaces Tom Docherty who has left to become port manager at Ipswich.

Corus and Regal hotels has launched the latest edition of book, the guide to its properties across Britain. Two of the hotel group’s properties featured in the directory have now been sold – The Dudley in Hove and The St George’s in Liverpool – as part of the group’s strategic disposals programme.
