British Airways axes 7,000 jobs

THE UK
AVIATION industry received a further blow today when British Airways axed 7,000
jobs and slashed its services by 10%. Worst hit will be cabin crew and support
staff, where 5,300 jobs will be axed in total.

A BA
spokeswoman said there will be job losses across the business, with US and
Gatwick-based staff among the hardest hit.

BA is also
reducing services by 10% with the biggest impact is likely to be on North American
routes and routes to the Middle East.
