asta moves world travel congress to New York

THE American Society of Travel Agents has decided to move
its World Travel Congress from Seville in Spain to New York city.

Reports from the US suggest the decision to move was taken
in the hope more people will attend the event, the US’s equivalent of the ABTA
convention.

Since the attacks on September 11, Hertz, Thrifty and
Worldspan have dropped out of the congress. The main reason cited for
cancelling was money rather than security.

The congress will now take place at the Jacob Javits Centre
between November 4 and November 7.
