Group adds on-line bookings
SWISS Hotels Deluxe has launched an on-line booking system in a bid to boost international business.
The brand is an association of 35 five-star Swiss hotels including The Mandarin Oriental Hotel du Rhone in Geneva.
Chairman Vic Jacob said: “We did have a website before but we have now introduced a booking engine which we hope will boost our international business. We hope to get around 5%-10% of bookings through the site.”
But he insisted agents were still important, providing 30% of all bookings for the hotel group.
Jacob added: “This winter we expect to see a move towards Europeans staying within Europe but looking for new destinations to visit. Switzerland has a reputation as a safe place so we think it will appeal to people,” he said.
