Australasia
Australia is seen as safe, but will suffer from people’s fear of flying. Last week calls to Gold Medal Travel Group about Australasia were up to the levels they were before September 11. Australia suffered in the immediate aftermath but demand for Christmas and January to March is good in comparison. Bookings to New Zealand are up 30% for this year compared to 2000 with self-drive, touring and coach holidays selling well.
