Yorkshire Tourist Board
County relaunches Internet site to improve accessibility
THEYORKSHIRETourist Board has relaunched its website to make it easier for potential visitors to get information about the region.
Since the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in February the use of the website, at www.yorkshirevisitor.com has increased by 100%, with figures reaching 54,959 hits by August. Head of strategic marketing Joanna Royle said it is essential that Yorkshire maintains a digital presence in light of the events which have hit UK tourism this year.
“We intend to take full advantage of the Internet in marketing Yorkshire and to ensure the site is easy to find and use. Constant development is needed,” she said.
The site includes every accommodation provider in the region and bookings can be made on-line. It also features an overview of the region, the latest foot and mouth guidance as well as virtual postcards.
Future plans include putting images of the Yorkshire Dales on-line via a webcam. The YTB has also launched a specialist conference, meetings and incentive travel Internet site at www.venueyorkshire.com, promoting the region as a destination for conferences.
It was launched last month in a bid to increase Yorkshire’s share of the conference market.
