P&O Portsmouth has promoted Paul Barringer to head of passenger marketing and sales. Barringer, who has been with P&O for 10 years most recently as UK sales manager, is replacing Richard Kirkman who now works for Railtrack.

Irish Ferries has unveiled its group travel fares for 2000. Prices start at £18 per person for foot passengers in a group of 10 or more booking a five-day return. The lead-in fare for a group travelling on a minibus or coach is £20.
n board reports fall in dover car traffic
The Dover Harbour Board has reported a 9% fall in car traffic to 3m and a 6% drop in passengers to 18.2m for 1999. It blamed the decline on the abolition of duty-free last summer.
n airtours offers discount on sundream
Airtours is offering a 37% discount on outside cabins for ex-UK cruises on Sundream between May and October. A 14-night cruise departing Southampton on July 29 starts from £919 per person. Port calls includes Tromso, Trondheim and Bergen.
