AIRTOURS has put an end to speculation and confirmed it
plans to adopt the MyTravel name.
Airtours chairman David Crossland, commenting today as the
company released its results for the year ending September 30, said: “I am
delighted to formally announce the launch of MyTravel, a new way of serving our
customers and a new name for the group. MyTravel encompasses all aspects of our
distribution business whether by retail, telephone or electronic media. We will
use our existing businesses, including aviation and cruises, with their
international exposure, to promote the MyTravel name.
“Our tour operating and accommodation businesses will retain
their strong and well established brand identities and will proudly proclaim
that they are ‘part of MyTravel Group’”.
Although individual operations may retain their original
branding, the MyTravel name will feature on stationery, brochures, retail shops
and the group’s 51 aircraft.
Speculation Airtours would rebrand has been rife for months
and the launch of a MyTravel branded website was postponed until today
following the US terrorist attacks on September 11 (Travel Weekly October
22).
The financial results show Airtours has reported an
operating profit of £147.4 million, a 57% increase on last year’s results. German
operations improved by 77% to £76.3 million.
