Sandals’ sales boom prompts Beaches to start discounting
Discounts are to be rolled out across three all-inclusive Beaches resorts after price-slashing at Sandals properties resulted in a major sales boom.
Sandals reported a bumper sales last week with bookings up 80% on last year and averaging a 32% rise in the previous three weeks. The hike comes just weeks after discounts were introduced for the first time to address a 35%-40% downturn in Sandals’ bookings for the three weeks directly after the US terrorist attacks.
Managing director Nigel Cleevely attributed the hike to discounting, advertising, marketing and sales visits.
“If we could get the same results for Beaches we would be very excited,” Cleevely said.
A similar package of discounts – Beaches Bonanza – is now being worked out for Beaches Turks and Caicos, Beaches Sandy Bay and Beaches Negril, both in Jamaica.
They are likely to be similar to savings at five Sandals resorts, some of which are 26%. The booking deadline for the Beaches resorts will be the end of February and the discounts will cover holidays until the end of 2002. The deadline for discounted bookings at Sandals resorts has been extended from December to the end of January.
