Barwell adds option for northern customers
SPAIN specialist Barwell Leisure will add a midweek charter flight from either Birmingham or Manchester next summer to provide a short-break option for customers in the north of England.
The Surrey-based operator currently offers only Saturday services from these airports, although it has flights from Gatwick on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
“Our short breaks are doing very well from Gatwick, so we want to introduce them in the north,” said Barwell Leisure sales and marketing director Carl Lemmer. “We charter British Airways aircraft and while other carriers cut routes, we are chartering more.”
He said Barwell, which specialises in sales to La Manga Club in Murcia, has seen a surge in bookings recently.
“We’ve had a lot of groups in particular switch to La Manga from Dubai and other Middle East destinations. La Manga … has a good safety and security record and people want to stay closer to home.”
