‘Sisters’ must have faith in themselves
I was sorry not to have been approached to comment on your article, Sisters should be doing it for themselves, now (Travel Weekly November 12).
I have been in the travel industry for a long time; I never rose above the level of branch manager when I worked for what are now multiples, and for any intelligent woman it was obvious why that situation would never change.
A business partnership with a long-standing female colleague has redressed the balance, for her and for me, as we are both now able to use the skills and talents that were always there.
My appointment in May, as the first female on the ABTA board was a joyful occasion as it was the result of a democratic vote.
But I never doubted that I, as a person, (not as a female person) was just as good a candidate as any other.
No, make that better.
