Multiple staff opt for pay cuts
THOMAS Cook says virtually all staff earning over £10,000 have agreed to a pay cut of between 3% and 10% in an attempt to avoid further job losses (Travel Weekly November 5).
The multiple has revealed 99% of those affected have agreed to the voluntary measure, representing 55% of its 12,500 UK-based employees.
A spokeswoman for Thomas Cook said: “We have been asking staff to support this measure and 99% have decided to accept it so it has been a very positive result.”
The company also denied claims that it misled staff by claiming the pay cut was compulsory.
“We have been honest and open and specifically made clear the pay cut was not compulsory,” added the spokeswoman.
