Canada 3000 failure hits specialists
Specialist operators to Canada have lost tens of thousands of pounds following the demise of Canada 3000. The scheduled carrier ceased operating on November 10 leaving hundreds of UK and Canadian passengers stranded.
1st Class cancelled around 20 bookings and is already owed money after the airline’s flights were suspended in the aftermath of September 11.
Sales manager John Drogan said losses were in five figures. But he said the situation would have been much worse if the carrier had ceased operations during peak season.
All Canada cancelled 25 bookings and had 50 customers in Canada when the airline closed.
General manager Chris Neill expects a new airline to be set up to replace Canada 3000.
He said: “Having spoken to airline and Canadian tourism representatives, Ibelieve a son of Canada 3000 will emerge.”
Air Transat could be the biggest beneficiary of Canada 3000’s bankruptcy. It has its hub in Montreal and flies into Gatwick.Globespan is the exclusive general sales agent for the carrier.
