* five holiday shops in travelcare rebrand
Five Holiday Shops will be rebranded as Travelcare stores under a new partnership deal. Lincoln Co-op will retain ownership of the branches and responsibility for the 36 staff but aims to tap into the advantages of the Travelcare name and marketing operations. It brings the number of Travelcare shops to 363.
* olympia explorerto launch in january
RoyalOlympic Cruises will launch its new ship Olympia Explorer in January following an eight-month delay. The vessel was due to be delivered from the Blohm and Voss shipyard in April but was postponed following concerns that specifications had not been met (Travel Weekly May 7). Royal Olympic will operate a series of seven-day Mediterranean itineraries on the ship.
* ba subsidiaries add £2.50 surcharge
British Airways subsidiaries and franchises have introduced a surcharge of £2.50 on each one-way sector. It affects all BA carriers including Manx Airlines, Brymon Airways and GB Airways and has been introduced to recoup the costs of additional security measures since September 11.
* travelodge to use new GDS system code
Travelodge has introduced a new global distribution system code. Travelodge UK bookings must use the new TG code rather than its previous FE code. FE was the code for all Forte hotels before the demerger of parent firms Granada and the Compass Group in February.
