AGENTS could make massive cost savings by using existing
office technology more efficiently, Sabre marketing manager for the UK and
Ireland David Morton has claimed.
Morton has carried out research and found that many agents could
save money by issuing more electronic tickets and emailing itineraries and
invoices to customers instead of posting them.
He gave the example of Carlson Wagonlit, which has the
account for General Electric’s UK travel arrangements.
Carlson Wagonlit has slashed overheads by 35% and is passing
these savings on to GE
Morton claimed that agents are increasingly making use of
the technology they have as managers try and cut costs following the September
11 terrorist attacks.
