CONSTRAINTS PUT £100 ON FARES

THE Government has warned air fares could rise sharply
unless the UK finds more London capacity for airlines.

Minister for transport John Spellar said return ticket
prices could go up by more than £100 as passengers would connect in other
European cities or not fly at all if UK airports become more crowded.

His comments come as the Government prepares to draw up a
policy White Paper on aviation. This is expected to include plans for a new
London runway, probably at Heathrow.
