airline price war on the cards

A PRICE war is on the cards between Bmi British Midland and
rival British Airways following Bmi’s decision to relax its fare structure on
domestic flights from Heathrow.

From today Saturday night and minimum stay requirements will
be removed. In addition travellers will be able to combine fares within each
cabin to achieve the lowest fares on each leg of their journey.

Customers will also be able to change the names on tickets
up to two hours before departure.

Economy return fares will lead in at £58 to Belfast, £68 to
Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Teeside and £80 to Leeds Bradford.

Bmi is following BA’s lead by simplifying pricing to fight
off competition from the low-cost carriers (Travel Weekly, April 8).
