survey finds going on holiday is cheap

A STUDY carried out by Teletext Holidays has found that
spending a weekend at home in the UK can be more expensive than going abroad
for a short break.

The holiday distributor found three days in Tenerife,
departing from Gatwick on April 30, would have cost £149, including
accommodation, food, booking fee and transfers by taxi.

This compares to £248.42 for someone to go out for two
nights in London, buy food, pay for a haircut and travel a total of 16
kilometres by taxi.

Teletext quizzed 1,000 people aged between 18 and 35 for the
study. A total of 40% of the people questioned said they would book a holiday
purely because of the price.

Londoners were the most frequent travellers with 19% taking
three holidays over the past year.
