TAP Air Portugal carries over a million passengers on UK routes

TAP Air Portugal saw carryings on UK routes rise by 6.1% to more one million passengers in 2024.

The Portuguese flag carrier gave the breakdown as it reported that overall passenger numbers edged up by 1.6% to 16.1 million last year over 2023.

The largest percentage increases were on North American routes, accounting for 1.59 million passengers – up 8.9% compared to 2023.

The airline’s transatlantic routes to Brazil routes surpassed the two million passenger mark, a record-breaking increase of 7.1% compared to 2023.

For Europe to Africa, TAP carried 1.1 million passengers in 2024 – down 0.1% from the previous year.

Meanwhile, flights between Madeira and mainland Portugal saw a 3.3% increase, with 983,000 passengers.

TAP carried 527,000 passengers on Azores routes, 1.3% more than the previous year.

The load factor for all routes was 82.3% – 1.5 percentage points more than in 2023.

Capacity grew 1.6% compared to the previous year, while revenue per seat increased by 3.4%.
