KLM said it was considering bringing its low-cost airlines,
Buzz and Basiq Air, under one brand as it reported an increase in year-on-year
fourth quarter losses.
Chief executive officer Leo van Wilk said that the company
was looking at a number of initiatives for its budget carriers, including new routes
and fleet replacements.
Van Wilk described the year as “difficult” as he
reported a £34 million increase in operating losses on the same period last
year to £77.5 million.
KLM said it would add capacity, but warned that future
performance was unpredictable due to uncertainty over economic recovery and
fuel prices.
