british airways reveals losses of £200 million

BRITISH Airways has revealed pre-tax losses of £200 million
for the year ending March 31.

Revenue was down by just over £1 billion from £8.34 to
£9.28.

However, total costs were down by 12.1% and the airline’s debt
was reduced by £268 million.

BA chief executive Rod Eddington said: “We have had to take
a series of tough decisions this year to protect British Airways for the long
term. It has meant sacrifice and hardship for our people.

“The market is expected to remain soft but the swift and
decisive actions we have taken show we are determined to return the business to
acceptable levels of profitability.”
