government prepares for aviation growth

ADDITIONAL runways could be built at Heathrow, Stansted,
Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh or Glasgow airports under plans put
forward by the Government.

 The proposals aim to
meet a massive increase in demand for flights over the next 30 years.

The Government estimates the UK may need the capacity to
handle 500 million passengers a year, up from 180 million, by 2030.

To meet this demand, a new runway could be built at
Heathrow, three more at Stansted and whole new airport built in Kent.
