ITT considers Big Four move

THE Institute of Travel and Tourism is looking at the possibility of
moving in with one of the Big Four in its hunt for new premises.

The organisation has to leave its St Albans base before September 25
after surrendering its lease (Travel Weekly June 24). The ITT board will decide
on a more cost-effective option within the next two weeks.

Chairman Steven Freudmann said: “We have had offers from a number of
large travel companies including the major tour operators.”

Meanwhile, the ITT has sent questionnaires to members asking them if
they are prepared to travel to Jordan. The destination was the original choice
for next year’s conference but it was postponed due to safety fears in the
Middle East.

“There are ongoing issues with the Middle East which we have to
consider,” said Freudmann. “Jordan is still a possibility and there was support
for the country from delegates at Galway.”

* The ITT cancelled its summer barbecue due to a mix
up over the proposed venue at London’s Roof Gardens in Kensington. The ITT Golf
Day on August 21 will go ahead as planned.
