MYTRAVEL SPLIT AS BLOCKADE STARTS TO BITE

MYTRAVEL’S specialist division is urging bosses to end
the feud with rival operators.

Specialist holidays managing director Matt Cheetham
has put pressure on new MyTravel commercial director Steve Endacott to resolve
the month-long crisis.

This follows a fresh newspaper campaign, this time by
Going Places, under the strapline ‘Book For Nothing’ with free child places,
insurance, no deposit or flight supplements offered for one week.

The ongoing row between the vertically integrated
operators – following advertising for Airtours’ new pricing strategy – has seen
MyTravel group sales through Lunn Poly and Thomas Cook grind to a halt.

“It should have been resolved
by now and I’m very disappointed that it hasn’t been,” said Cheetham, who is
also seeking more effective distribution through Going Places.
