mytravel forced to ditch brochure

MYTRAVEL has been forced to ditch the
first brochure run of its Simply Small and Friendly range after a £35,000 name
blunder.

The
launch has been delayed after Thomson complained it sounded too similar to some
of its brands.

MyTravel
chiefs are now devising a new name and agents have been told not to rack the
file copies they have received.

MyTravel
put the price of pulling the brochures at £35,000 but industry sources
estimated the total cost to be between £100,000-£200,000, depending on brochure
size and

print
run.

“This
is a fundamental mistake and must have cost a lot more than they say,” said one
operator.

MyTravel
is already hurting after errors on price comparison advertisements had to be
changed, a move thought to have cost a four figure sum.

The
mistakes came to light as MyTravel put an end to its price comparison adverts
with Thomson and Thomas Cook.
