THE BAA
airport strike scheduled for Sunday is off after the company and Transport and
General Workers Union agreed to sit down for more talks.
The move comes after TGWU members, including firefighters
and security workers, voted to reject BAA’s latest pay offer.
If these
talks fail, TGWU general secretary Bill Morris warned he will give the
statutory seven days notice for industrial action.
Morris said: “The rejection reflects the determination
of our members to secure just reward for the added responsibilities they have had
since September 11.”
