BRITISH Airways is scrapping 21 routes
and ceasing operations from Leeds Bradford and Cardiff airports as part of a
review of its regional business.
BA’s
CitiExpress division will increasingly concentrate on business traffic and is
set to launch its first ever routes from London City Airport.
Services
to Frankfurt, Glasgow International and Paris Charles de Gaulle will begin in
April, in addition to, as yet unannounced, services from Manchester.
BA general manager for UK business David Evans said:
“The proposed withdrawal of all services from Cardiff and Leeds Bradford
has been a tough decision to take, but it was crucial to underpin the rest of
the operation as we moved on.”
