ALITALIA has adopted partner KLM’s commission structure in the UK, while also co-ordinating joint sales and marketing.
The move means agents selling Alitalia qualify for up to 10% commission depending on sales.
Alitalia came in line with KLM last year by cutting basic payments from 9% to 7%.
A spokesman for the Italian airline said: “Before we had different contracts but with the new system, there is an incentive to work with both of us.”
He added there would also be a single point of contact for agents when dealing with KLM/Alitalia and their partners Northwest Airlines, KLM UK, Braathens and Air Engiadina.
