ABTA president to be revealed next week

By Sarah Thomas

THE new ABTA president is to be announced next week,
with either P&O Travel director Gwyn Hughes or Travelscene sales director
John Harding tipped to take over from outgoing head Stephen Bath.

Sources claim Harding and Hughes are ‘neck and neck’
to take the post. ABTA aviation director Sandy MacPherson is the third
candidate.

Meanwhile, the new ABTA board boasts the highest
number of female members ever.

Kuoni managing director Sue Biggs and Knock Travel
proprietor Doreen McKenzie will join existing board member Hoseasons travel
trade director Yvonne Borg at its inaugural meeting on May 21.

Other new additions to the
18-strong body are Corona Holidays managing director Alan Cornish, P&O
Cruises managing director David Dingle and Regent Holidays director Neil
Taylor.
