THE Family Holiday Association has cancelled its annual
summer ball in an effort to save travel companies money during the current
downturn.
The last FHA Black and White Ball raised £100,000 from the
trade, helping to pay for 250 disadvantaged families to go on holiday.
“We have always appreciated the tremendous financial support
we receive from the travel industry but we believe it is unfair to put pressure
on people at this time,” said FHA director John McDonald.
“These are difficult times for the industry and we felt it
would be foolish to commit any funds to an event that might only have limited
support on the night.”
The FHA is asking travel companies with ideas for
alternative fundraising activities to contact its event fundraiser Sarah
