ARGO
Holidays plans to buy an Australasian tour operator following its purchase of
Asiaworld and Caribworld for an undisclosed sum.
The
move into Asia and the Caribbean follows the acquisition by Argo’s parent
InterArgo Travel Group of Jetlife Holidays in April last year.
Sales
and marketing director Theo Demetriou said: “We now offer most destinations
other than Australasia.”
Asiaworld
and Caribworld’s parent, Westminster Travel Group, pulled the plug on the St
Albans-based operation to focus on interests in its core Asia market earlier
this month (Travel Weekly January 12).
Demetriou said it was too early to say whether the
brands’ 10 UK-based staff would be employed by Argo Holidays.
Talks over the future role of former Asiaworld general
manager Paul Tilling were ongoing as Travel Weekly went to press.
