THE UK is to get its first direct link
into Sarajevo for a decade with the launch of flights from Manchester and
Gatwick next month.
Fly Bosnia will operate a weekly flight from
Manchester, via Gatwick, from the end of June. Currently, UK passengers have to
travel via other European cities with airlines including Lufthansa, Austrian
and Malev.
The operation has been spearheaded by All Leisure
Group chairman Roger Allard and direct-sell operator Indigo Holidays.
Allard will be chairman while Indigo will provide
reservations and funding for aircraft.
Indigo chief executive Todd Carpenter said: “It’s a
bit different from what we normally do, but it is a great opportunity. Bosnia
is waiting to be discovered.”
The carrier expects Sarajevo and surrounding areas to
become tourism hotspots over the next two years.
Prices will start from £199
return.
