BRITISH Airways is facing the possibility of bank holiday
strikes after workers voted to take industrial action.
A ballot of 4,500 GMB represented workers confirmed employees
want to take strike action.
The union is currently consulting its BA stewards over what
action to take but bank holiday strikes are a real possibility.
The situation could be made worse for BA next week when the
T&G union also gets its ballot results in. It is likely the two
unions will combine strike dates.
BA urged the unions back to the negotiating table.
Director of customer service and operations Mike Street said:
“Our travelling public do not deserve to be victims and we will do
everything in our power to ensure they are not.”
GMB national officer Ed Blissett said: “This result indicates
our members’ anger at BA’s wholly inadequate pay offer.”
