Operators’ Favourite Chalets

“One of my favourites is the Chalet Marsala (sleeping 39-41) in Val d’Isere. All the rooms are en suite and it is close to the centre with good access to all the bars. There is a good lounge area with a pool table.” Prices lead in at £469 per person for one week.

Andrew Peters, manager director, Thomson Ski

“My favourite is the Chalet Motxo [sleeping 20-23] in Soldeu/El Tarter, Andorra. It was built exclusively for Panorama and opened last year. It is 800 metres walk to the chairlift, full of character and built from traditional stone.” Prices lead in at £309 per person including flights.

Corri Boyle, ski product manager, Panorama

“My favourite is the Chalet Alaska in Courcheval, France. It is at high altitude (1,850 metres) and it has a pool – absolutely essential!” The chalet, which sleeps 12 must be booked by one party for exclusive use, and costs from £1,537 per person for one week.

Laurence Hicks, sales manager, Inghams

“The Chalet Ski Hill Lodge, Breckenridge, is definitely my favourite chalet. It has beautiful views, lovely rooms, great facilities, wonderful furnishings and it’s in Breckenridge. The chalet sleeps 18-22 people and is on three levels with facilities such as a four-poster bed, hot tub and fireplace.” Prices start at £559 per person for one week’s half-board.

Nina Clifford, senior product manager, Neilson

“My absolute favourite would have to be the Chalet Falkenhorst in St Anton, Austria. It’s a chocolate box chalet that has a big fireplace and great access to the slopes and nightlife.” Prices for the four-star chalet sleeping 11 lead in at £409 per person half board including flights.”

Gary Wardrope, head of specialised products, Airtours

“We all love the Chalethotel Dahu, Courcheval 1850, France, because it’s so close to everything. It’s right in the centre of town, so the main lift station is only a short walk away, and the nightlife is just down the road. It has an intimate atmosphere too, and a friendly bar.” The lead-in price is £512 per person, half-board, including flights.”

Nigel Ragg, marketing manager, Mark Warner

“Any of our double black diamond chalets would be fine for me. The Ptarmigan in Vail, Renoirs in Whistler and Settlement in Breckenrige all offer exceptional quality. Chalet standards in the US are very high – most have en-suite facilities and many have nice little luxuries, such as a hot tub.” The lead-in price for the Ptarmigan is £799 for eight nights’ half-board accommodation, including flights.”
